Hannelore Baron (June 8, – Ap ) was an artist whose work has become known for the highly personal, book-sized, abstract collages and box constructions that she began exhibiting in the late s. Born in Dillingen/Saar, Germany, she and her family fled persecution in Nazi Germany, illegally crossing the border into Luxembourg. I discovered Hannelore Baron 10 years ago and have acquired several of her catalogs and books of her work- I still remember the day I went into that Seattle gallery and stood mesmerized and stared at each intimate small piece for long periods- I did not want to leave the gallery and actually returned the following week-- a feat that I have to.
